Footsteps Across the Delta (walking safari) and Young Explorers (family safari) are led by specialist guides. Either Opie or Noah will host and guide you throughout your time at the Footsteps Camp. Wish to book a specialist guide to accompany you throughout your Ker & Downey Botswana safari and further afield? Please just esquire when making your reservation.
My name is Omphile, Opie for short, I was born in Francistown, in the North Eastern part of Botswana. With the tremendous growth in tourism I decided to leave I.T. and join the tourism industry. I went on to apply to the Botswana Wildlife Training Institute to train as a guide.
I started at Kanana in 2011 and after an initial familiarisation period at Kanana, I was later transferred to Footsteps Camp. I have fallen in love with the camp because of its walking trails the camp offers. It's home because of the inviting atmosphere, the friendly and caring staff and the feel of getting in touch with nature whilst leading walking trails and the Young Explorers family safaris.
My name is Noah, I was born in Eastern Botswana in a village called Mmadinare and I was raised in Francistown. I started my career as a technician and soon after I decided to pursue my career as a guide as I have always had a passion for nature and the wilderness.
Once I completed my guides course in 2014, I was privileged to be offered a job with Ker & Downey Botswana. I started guiding at Footsteps camp where I worked for a year and then I moved onto Okuti. I really enjoyed my time in the Moremi Game Reserve, but walking and family safaris is where my passion lies. In 2017 I moved back to Footsteps and took up the role as Specialist guide.
