At Ker & Downey Botswana we believe that, in addition to spectacular wildlife and stunning locations, it’s the people you meet on your safari that make it such a memorable experience. Onalenna “Owner” Ipateleng

My name is Onalenna however I chose the name “Owner” after I realised that most guests had difficulties in pronouncing my name. I was born in a small village called Nxamasere which is situated in the pan handle of the Okavango Delta.

I kick started my career in 2006 as a Makoro poler and a maintenance worker at Xugana (A sister camp of Ker & Downey Botswana). I had always dreamed of becoming a guide so I did my guides training course and obtained my license at the end of 2012, the same year I started working for Ker & Downey Botswana.

The thing I love most about being a guide at Kanana is I get to meet new people every day, learning from them and at the same time sharing my knowledge of my beautiful country.

Barobi “Robby” Ronald Garenamotse

I joined the tourism industry in 2002 as a Specialist Mokoro Guide after finishing my secondary education. Once I had accumulated enough experience I obtained my Assistant Professional Guide licence in 2004 and joined various mobile safari companies where I held different positions.

After upgrading my professional guide licence, I joined Okavango Wilderness Safaris in 2008 where I worked for five years and before working as a guide at Kwando Safaris. I gained a lot of valuable experience at both companies which I believe gave me a good foundation for my future guiding career.

I joined Ker & Downey Botswana in 2017 and I am currently based at Kanana as a professional guide - My keen interests are birding and photography. The company has enabled me to enhanced my photographic guiding skills through specialist photography training.
